Footbridge Square Studio City
Footbridge Square Studio City got its name because of the footbridge located at at Laurelgrove and Valleyheart that crosses the LA River and gives residents easy access to Ventura Blvd and all that it offers including shopping, restaurants and the Studio City Keller Williams office. This enclave is in the running to be my favorite neighborhood in Studio City. It has so much going for it starting with the streets that are shaded with old oak trees.
There is more than just a pride of ownership ( which is obvious from the well manicured lawns) there is a pride of residence. I just made that term up but if you ever attend their 4th of July parade you will get what I mean. The streets fill with people ( and pets) dressed to show pride in their country but talking about pride in their neighborhood. They are also really friendly and won’t shun you if you don’t live there.
Located between Moorpark and Ventura, Laurel Canyon and Whitsett Footbridge Square Studio City is the starting point to the almost two mile stretch of the LA River that hosts two new, small parks that showcase the revitalization effort. One of the parks is accessed by turning left at the south side of the river on the Laurelgrove Avenue Footbridge and go down the ramp. This park was opened in 2004 and runs about half a mile from Laurel Canyon to Whitsett Ave. The park features pretty cool rock seating areas, California native plants and river rock ramps.
If you haven’t walked the river yet take a Sunday afternoon and enjoy the scenery. You will probably run into more than a few Footbridge Square residents out there jogging, walking and enjoying their neighborhood. Be sure to say hi they are a friendly bunch.
